Otomoto Supercar Project Part 7

Now that Otomoto is operational at the new Warrawong warehouse we are getting stuck into the Supercar project again. One of the final shape issues to sort out is making the rear end symmetrical.
Some tape measure work revealed the left side pod was too short, so some more expanding foam had to be added to get the right proportions.

The fresh foam is cut back with the flexible saw again to match the shape. Just looking at it from this angle it is hard to see much that has changed.

Getting the exact shape of the corners of the car to match is trickier. This profile gauge, normally used by tilers, helps compare the contours at certain points. Here the gauge showed that the concave part under the taillight needed to be deeper.

Checking the sides in 10cm increments showed that the ridge needed to be higher up and poke out further. We marked the location of the ridge and noted the amount it needed to come out.

As the ridge only needs to move up and out about 10mm, we'll just do it with plaster filler. Here a heavy ridge has been added. Next finer detail will be applied before we get back into sanding.
Currently we are in discussions with a fibreglass mould maker about producing the kit panels. Nothing has beed signed yet though, so if anyone would like to offer their services in this regard, conact
